10:14 PM
It is vital to the point that when something severe happens to the patient and you or someone cannot afford hospital care. You can base your knowledge about care giving and might help you or that someone from paying a much higher price at the hospital. But there are some disadvantages about care giving at home and at the hospital. There are more proper equipment at the hospital than at your home. The doctor or nurse has more knowledge about sicknesses and diseases than you/ or the caregiver. But somehow you can also help your environment by helping one another in times of need. Making a Bed
Q: Why do we need to know how to make an unoccupied and occupied bed?
A: So that we can do that with a real patient. So that when there comes the time when we need to do it, we are always ready for it.

Q: How does making a bed help in the fast recovery of our patient?
A: By making the patient warm and comfortable.

Q: As a good home nurse, how will you be able to render your services to your patient through bed making?
A: By practicing this, we are showing respect and it just clearly shows that we understand the patient.

 Bathing the Patient
Q: Why do you need to give a bath to the patient?
A: To cleanse the patient. To refresh the patient. To relax the patient. To stimulate the circulation of the blood in the body. To serve as a form of exercise.  And also to aid in the circulation of body wastes in the body.

Q: If you are a good home nurse, what are the various home nursing techniques that you need to apply that will make the patient feel comfortable and speed up the recovery?
A: One is to be a good host. Always smile at the patient. Be patient and understand your patient. Always follow the right dosage. And always segregate and keep all medicines in place.

Q: Why should the home nurse monitor the vital signs of the patient?
A: To keep records on the status of the patient. If the patient is fine or not. Or if the patient still needs medicine and etc.

Q: How do you take the body temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure of the patient?
A: By using different instruments like the thermometer, stethoscope, and the Sphygmomanometer.

Q: What are some practices that the home nurse must follow that will
           promote comfort to the patient?
A: Always be patient, always keep records, always understand, always smile, and be happy.

Q:  How will you differentiate signs from symptoms of illnesses and
           diseases?
A:

Q:  If you are the doctor, what will be your basis in giving the diagnosis for your patient?
A: By following my right observation. Because if you're a keen observer, You might get the right idea on what sickness the patient has. When you're right with your observation, with all the years of knowledge from Medicinal School, you may now give the right medicine and dosage. Or, the proper treatment for the sickness. Thanks.

Administering Medicine to the Patient.

4:12 AM
Q: What significant insights have you learned from the topic?

A: Of course it was a pleasure to learn about this topic. This gave me an idea to take care of anyone who lives in my house. Or even people who are not from my house. I learned the proper way to administer medicine. The proper dosage, proper medicine. And other medical terms.

Q: How does proper administering of medicines help our patients in their recovery?

A: It can help in the fast recovery of the patient. Of course the wrong medicine can lead to a slower or no healing result. And even if you have the proper medicine, but you don't know how to administer it, it is practically useless because maybe it won't heal.

What Can I Say About the Recycled Crafts Project?

I really enjoyed the activity/project. And I also admit that I did not bring anything for the said project, well it's because I was absent that time and I was not informed earlier. But it's okay. I tried my best to cope up with my peers which I think I did it successfully. :D

I did not bring anything but I helped in the preparation of the project. I think I made a big help to my group even though I missed and did not bring anything. And I think that they enjoyed my help and company too. The output of course is good. :) Continue reading →

Centennial Activities

There were a lot of activities during the centennial celebration of the Ateneo Fiesta 2012. Like the Jesuit Athletic Meet (JAM), of course the High school Night, and the Ateneo Fiesta itself. Firstly, I would like to note that I am part of the Ateneo de Zamboanga Univ. Concert Band. I played in the opening ceremony of the Jesuit Athletic Meet, so I know how it feels to be in the center of the festivities during the Ateneo Fiesta. The JAM in itself gave me a lot of insights on the lessons that we learned in sports. Some of these lessons include hard work, determination, strength and agility, perseverance, knowledge, claimed. But most important of all, the spirit of good will. In becoming a good sport, we learn to accept and learn from our mistakes.

I did not attend the Highschool Night, but they said it was fun. I did however, attend the Centennial Alumni Homecoming during the Ateneo Fiesta. Our band played in the program and we had lots of fun. It was very obvious that this year's Ateneo Fiesta was the most well planned and the best of all the Ateneo Fiesta's. It's an honor to be a student of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University. Continue reading →
